University of Haifa International School Student Blog
As my time approaches its end here in Haifa, I have had to say goodbye to many people. This past weekend, I went to Tel Aviv and had shabbat meals with my family for the last time for who knows how long. At the university, we had a goodbye film and slideshow and speeches from our madrachim. I will also eventually have to say goodbye to lifelong friends that I have made over the last 6 months.
A few of the things that I have accomplished this semester have been learning Hebrew to a level at which I can actually speak and understand people and have full-ish conversations. I went to europe and traveled for the first time out of the United States and really the only time out of Phoenix and San Diego. I learned to cook 4 new things: Green Chicken Curry, Shakshuka, Singapore noodles and schnitzel. I successfully completed an Internship at the engineering school often compared to the MIT of Israel. I went to my first professional soccer game and watched Maccabi Haifa win. I lived in a foreign country and lived an almost Israeli lifestyle. And finally, I must say I’ve become quite pushy when it comes to people being to slow in front of me. Must be that some of the Israeli rubbed off on me.
I guess until next time, See you soon Israel (aka Haifa)
