The start of Ulpan was like stepping with one leg on a roller coaster while leaving the other one behind – difficult to keep the pace and catch up, but at the same time real fun. Five hours of Hebrew language everyday is quite a tough experience during summer (especially extra hot Israeli summer), though being able (more or less :)) to read words in another alphabet in an unfamiliar language in less than a week was really rewarding. At this pace, last week came in a blink of an eye and I have already to count things that I enjoyed and what I am going to miss.
The organized trips to all the different places were indeed very enjoyable and gave lots of information (especially from our regular tour guide Yisrael whose fast paced 3000-years-in-5-minutes talks I liked). All the time we could see how the madrichim really tried to make the most of our relatively short stay here in Israel – for example making a really nice atmosphere with candles and comfortably arranged furniture in the moadon for the Café Event – small details, but make a big difference. Also, one moment I enjoy every morning rushing to classes is passing the guard’s station – they always listen to some good music, like The Beatles or The Doors, and they never forget to smile and say good morning.
So, a week left to enjoy and that’s what I’m off to do.
